Musings: Your Life Isn't The Norm

here
Lately I've realized that everyone thinks their life is the norm. People will say that they went to grad school right after college and that's best because they were still in school mode. People say that gap years are valuable. People say that it's best to get married after you graduate college, after grad school, after you have a career. People have an abundance of opinions of what worked or didn't work for them. That's wonderful, it is. Hearing the wisdom of others is more valuable than many people realize. But I have to say, life isn't about these experientially based norms and no one's life (except arguably Jesus') should be the norm. Life is dynamic and humans are too. We move. We grow. We fail. We grow some more. I'm making a conscious decision to stop worrying about the norm and to start doing life with Jesus. Furthermore, I am going to start admiring the nuanced beauty of what life looks like for others. The God I serve is creative. He wants to showcase different parts of Himself in the lives of others. Let's stop boxing Him in with the norm.

Share the love,

Taylor

  2. I couldn't agree more, there is a different formula for everyone's life. My cousin was a rebellious teenager and in deep into some bad stuff, but she got pregnant young and it was the best thing that ever happened to her. She turned her life completely around, got her veterinary degree and now runs a successful vet clinic. Not that I am advocating to go get your pregnant when things aren't going well, but it was the thing that saved her life.
Everyone's life is different, and you never know which choice is going to make you sink or soar. You have to chose your own path.

    cheers.

Really needed this today. Sometimes I find myself comparing my life, my relationship, my life goals to others' and it leaves me feeling discouraged and unsatisfied. It's so important to remember that we all walk a unique path!

  4. I absolutely agree with you. We all go through different trials and experiences and they shape who we are and become... we shouldn't expect to be like everybody else.. because we are not... there is always a story behind every person
